Nā Te Kore | From the Void 2018 is the 2nd International Indigenous Design Forum hosted by Ngā Aho - Māori and Indigenous design professionals network.
Nā Te Kore | From the Void 2018 aims to build on the successful foundations of I Te Timatanga | In the Beginning 2016 as well as the Ōtautahi Revealed Symposium 2012, by expanding the horizons and showing how a new light can emerge even from the darkest of voids.
The Forum will bring together both national and international Indigenous designers, architects, landscape architects, urban designers, artists, design thinkers, public art practitioners and consultants who work together in the indigenous design space. This is a unique opportunity for practitioners to come together to discuss approaches to design, share thoughts, work and narrate, whilst evolving ideas and concepts about integrating indigenous design narrative and values into the public realm.
Nā Te Kore will be hosted in the spectacular Tuahiwi Marae, Ōtautahi/Christchurch, Aotearoa/New Zealand, from Friday 2nd March 2018 - Monday 5th March 2018.
The Hau Kainga/home people of Ngāi Tahu - Ngāi Tūāhuriri and Ngāti Wheke - will play host to Ngā Aho and their manuhiri/guests in welcoming them to the conference.
A Wānanga style experience will be provided where guests will be accommodated for the duration of the Forum at the Marae (Indigenous Community Centre). Nā Te Kore will also run across a range of venues that will highlight and showcase the diverse nature of the Christchurch rebuild post-earthquake. The schedule will include presentations, panel discussions, workshops and indigenous site visits.
A full and comprehensive view of the programme, registration details, costs and calls for abstracts will be provided by October 2017 when the website is launched.
